Sally Stockwell is a Christchurch-based actor, singer-songwriter, and voice-over artist with 30 years of experience in New Zealand's prominent theatre and screen industries. She has released two albums, blending her love for music with a multifaceted artistic career.
A dedicated voice teacher for 20 years, Sally has studied voice in France, London, and New Zealand, offering one-on-one sessions from her home studio and leading group workshops. Her teaching covers singing, voice, and speech, with the flexibility to tailor sessions to individual needs.
Sally has taught at institutions including Auckland University, Unitec, The Actor’s Program (TAP), and Mixit (a migrant youth program), as well as working with community and world choirs.
In addition to her teaching, Sally is actively involved in writing and recording music, creating original theatre works, and continuing her acting career across New Zealand’s television and film industry.
Sally Stockwell trained at Toi Whakaari (Diploma in Professional Drama / Acting, 1993–95) and has furthered her vocal studies internationally. She has trained with the Pantheatre Company (France) in Roy Hart voice and singing, completed SLS training, studied semi-classical Indian singing, and pursued music theory at Auckland University. Additionally, Sally studied voice and acting with the Royal National Theatre Studio (London).
Sally’s teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in the Roy Hart approach, which explores the full spectrum of human sound and integrates the physical body into vocal expression. She also incorporates the techniques of renowned vocal pedagogues such as Kristin Linklater, Patsy Rodenburg, Cicely Berry, Seth Riggs, and Jo Estill.
Passionate about guiding students toward an embodied, authentic, and technically healthy voice, Sally helps individuals find their true vocal potential.
